Presentation

The Self-Consumption Production Unit at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of Sobreiras consists of 635 photovoltaic panels that produce clean energy to power the WWTP’s operations.

These panels have a capacity of 387 kilowatt-peak (KWp) and an estimated production of 619 megawatt-hours (MWh) per year, representing savings of around 80.000 euros per year on the energy bill.

The unit covers the administrative building and the roof of the WWTP’s treatment facilities, with a total installation area of 1.715 m².

This project is a clear example of how the city’s electrical infrastructure is being modernised to promote renewable energy production and reduce Porto’s environmental footprint, in line with the Pacto do Porto para o Clima 2030.

OTHER SUGGESTIONS

52 photovoltaic panels were installed with a total power of 23.66 kWp, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This action is part of the Porto Solar project, which aims to promote energy efficiency and independence by installing panels on 29 municipal buildings to generate and use renewable energy.
54 photovoltaic panels were installed at the Fonte da Moura Elementary School with a power output of 24,57 kWp. The panels have an annual production of 34.501,87 kW/h of electricity, of which 45,58% is consumed by the school, corresponding to a reduction in emissions of 5,38 tonnes of CO₂/year. This intervention was carried out as […]
Through the cross-border AQUALITRANS II project, 242 photovoltaic panels were installed in 2023 at the Freixo Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), distributed across the administrative building and the building where water pre-treatment is carried out. The Self-Consumption Production Unit, with a total implementation area of 619 m², has an installed capacity of 133 kWp and an […]
